Project Development and Project Finance Senior Associate
Overview
We are currently supporting a leading international law firm seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Associate to its Project Development and Project Finance team in Riyadh.
The successful candidate will join a highly regarded global projects practice with a strong reputation across infrastructure, energy, utilities and major development projects. Working closely with partners in Saudi Arabia and across the firm’s international network, the role will involve advising on complex, high-value projects throughout the Kingdom and the wider Middle East.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious projects lawyer to join a growing Riyadh practice, take on significant responsibility and play an active role in the continued development of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising sponsors, lenders, government entities, developers and contractors on major infrastructure, energy and development projects.
- Supporting projects across their full lifecycle, from initial structuring and procurement through to financing, construction, operation and maintenance.
- Drafting and negotiating key project documentation, including concession agreements, development agreements, power and water purchase agreements, EPC contracts, O&M agreements and other commercial project documents.
- Advising on project finance transactions, including conventional and Islamic financing structures.
- Taking a leading role on complex Saudi and cross-border matters, with responsibility for transaction management and client delivery.
- Coordinating with clients, counterparties, external advisers and colleagues across the firm’s wider international network.
- Supervising and mentoring junior associates and supporting their technical and professional development.
- Contributing to client pitches, business development initiatives and the continued growth of the Riyadh practice.
- Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand existing mandates.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years’ post-qualified experience in project development, project finance or a combination of both.
- Experience gained within a leading international or highly regarded regional law firm in the Kingdom.
- Strong experience advising on infrastructure, energy, utilities or major development projects.
- Experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of project and commercial documentation.
- Previous exposure to project finance transactions would be highly advantageous.
- The ability to lead matters, manage transactions and take ownership of client relationships.
- Strong technical drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- Professional level fluency in Arabic and English language skills
