Technology Lawyer
Overview
Beacon Legal has partnered with a leading global financial services organisation to recruit a Technology Lawyer into a high-performing central technology and commercial legal team on a contract basis.
This team provides strategic legal advice and execution support on complex, high-value technology transactions across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of technology, supporting initiatives ranging from SaaS contracting to emerging technologies including generative AI.

Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, cloud-based solutions and technology licensing arrangements
- Advise on regulated outsourcing and vendor arrangements across the business
- Support key stakeholders across central functions including operations, risk, finance, people & culture, and legal
- Provide commercially focused legal advice to enable execution of the organisation’s technology strategy
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks across technology initiatives
- Work closely with internal stakeholders on complex, high-value and innovative technology projects
Requirements
- Admitted to practice in Australia with experience in technology contracting (in-house or private practice)
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating SaaS, cloud and technology agreements
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and risk awareness
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills and commitment to high-quality client service
- Experience working with emerging technologies such as AI or machine learning is desirable
- Experience within financial services or regulated environments is desirable
- Experience advising on data, privacy, cyber security or fraud-related matters is desirable
